The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) is proud to announce it earned its 15th Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator is America’s largest and most trusted independent charity evaluator. A Four-Star rating is the highest possible rating an organization can achieve. EESI earned a notable 98% score and was deemed a “Give with Confidence” charity.
“I am very proud that EESI is consistently recognized as a top charity,” said EESI President Daniel Bresette. “Maybe I take that for granted because I have a front-row seat to our tremendous impact. But when Charity Navigator cites our commitment to good governance and our mission, vision, and goals, it means a lot to see our work validated. We happen to be celebrating our 40th anniversary this year, and it is energizing and rewarding to receive a Four-Star Rating for the 15th time.”
“Charity Navigator's designation of EESI as a Four-Star Charity for the 15th time means the public can continue to trust EESI with their charitable contributions towards advancing climate change solutions,” said EESI Board Chair Jared Blum. “I know that I have the highest degree of confidence in the outsized impact that EESI has on climate solutions. It makes me proud to be EESI's Board Chair and a donor to EESI myself.”
Charity Navigator evaluated EESI in three “beacons” or areas: Accountability and Finance, Culture and Community, and Leadership and Adaptability. EESI scored 99 out of 100 points for Accountability and Finance thanks to EESI’s high standard of governance practices and policies, in addition to our financial efficiency and trustworthiness. In Culture and Community, EESI scored 94 out of 100 points for our strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice and for gathering and implementing feedback from our stakeholders. Finally, in Leadership and Adaptability, EESI earned a perfect 100 out of 100 points by providing staff with professional development opportunities, collaborating with other organizations, and sharing the story of how we adapted to changes due to the pandemic.
EESI also maintains a 2024 Platinum Seal of Transparency on Candid (formerly GuideStar) and was named a Top Rated Nonprofit by GreatNonprofits for the 14th time in 2024. Along with our Four-Star Charity status, these recognitions are further validation of EESI’s unmatched dedication to outstanding nonprofit performance, impact, and good stewardship of donor investments in EESI.
Since 1984, EESI has worked hard to advance science-based solutions for climate change, energy, and environmental challenges to achieve our vision of a sustainable, resilient, and equitable world. Each year, we produce more than 20 Congressional briefings, 35 newsletters, and 100 articles, as well as fact sheets, issue briefs, and podcast episodes.
