The Energy Title Is an Economic Driver, According to Farm Bill Hearing

On Thursday, September 28, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry concluded its series of hearings, “Perspectives for the 2018 Farm Bill,” with a hearing focused on Energy and Rural Development programs. While these programs might be on the chopping block in the President’s 2018 Budget Proposal, which would cut funding to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) by 21 percent, they are broadly supported by the members of the Senate Agriculture Committee.

Biodiesel Industry Woes Mount on Heels of Latest EPA Announcement

Lately, it seems that there is a surprise around every corner for the biofuels industry. This week’s headscratcher – EPA proposed 15 percent reduction of 2018 blending targets for biodiesel, despite biodiesel volumes being set over a year in advance. Additionally, rumors are circulating that EPA is considering further modifications to the biofuels program – all designed to reduce compliance costs for the petroleum industry.
