Senate Energy Committee Advances Energy Bill – Bipartisan Bill a Hodgepodge of Energy Provisions
On July 30, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee made a big dent in its to-do list, approving The Energy Modernization Act of 2015, the first energy policy reform bill since 2007. In an 18-4 vote on Thursday, the Senate Committee pushed “The Energy Policy Modernization Act of 2015” through committee. A similar bill, The Architecture of Abundance, was also passed unanimously out of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power on July 23.

EESI Asks EPA to Focus on Steps to Increase Volumes of Advanced and Cellulosic Fuels
On Monday, July 27, the comment period closed for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed renewable fuel volumes for 2014, 2015 and 2016. The agency has been wrestling with the future direction of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for the last two years. Since the three year proposal was released in May, most of the biofuels industry’s focus has been on EPA’s interpretation of the legal definition of “adequate domestic supply” of renewable fuels in the RFS.
