Appropriations “Hijacked” by Representatives, According to OMB Director
Now that the July 4 recess is over, the appropriations process on Capitol Hill is heating up again, with strong language coming from the Administration on their displeasure with respect to the process. According to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Shaun Donovan, “Representatives are attempting to hijack the appropriations process,” by continuing sequestration funding levels, and adding controversial amendments and policy riders. Amid Historic Western Drought, Regulators Wondering How to Meet Future Water Demand
On July 2, the Bureau of Reclamation announced a $1.5 million commitment, with matching funds from water associations, to conduct studies on water basins in Arizona, California and New Mexico. The announcement is part of a push to develop innovative strategies to meet growing western water demand in a region where agriculture, urban and ecosystem water needs are increasingly in conflict.

The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and the ChinaFAQs Project of the World Resources Institute (WRI) invite you to a briefing on China’s actions on climate change and clean energy and U.S.-China cooperation. Now the largest greenhouse gas emitter, and with a fast-growing economy and the world's largest population, China will play a unique and vital role in the effort to keep the global warming temperature increase below 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit. What is China doing? University, government, and business experts will discuss the results of the recent U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue, as well as current actions and future prospects for China’s shift to low-carbon energy—including China’s recently announced contribution (“INDC”) to the international climate agreement in Paris this December.
