Hello and welcome to Climate Change Solutions!
We are continuing our focus on climate jobs, with an emphasis on adaptation and resilience. Our updated Climate Jobs fact sheet is live, accompanied by an explainer on the what and where of adaptation and resilience jobs. The fact sheet accompanies yesterday's briefing Growing the Climate Workforce, which covered the impact four climate policies currently being considered by Congress could have on workforce development.
We explore climate resilience and adaptation nationwide, from Climate Hubs in California providing farmers with training and technical assistance, to mobilizing young people for environmental action in the Great Lakes Climate Corps, to how a summer hearing could inform current debates on a national Climate Corps.
We also discuss Climate as a National Security Threat with retired three-star general and EESI board member Jeff Talley during the latest episode of EESI's podcast, The Climate Conversation.
EESI is excited to announce our latest briefing series What Congress Needs to Know in the Lead Up to COP26.
The first briefing of the series is October 8 and features Sir Robert Watson, lead author of the U.N. Environment Programme's report Making Peace with Nature and former U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres and in discussion on Creating Policies, Coalitions, and Actions for Global Sustainable Development. RSVP today!

From September 13 to 24, House Committees completed their marathon markups on the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package. Highlights include:
The House Energy and Commerce Committee moved forward with its section of the bill, which includes a $150 billion Clean Electricity Performance Program.
The House Ways and Means Committee approved an estimated $235 billion for clean energy, including extending tax credits for renewable energy.
The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved $715 billion to improve wastewater and drinking water infrastructure and invest in zero-emissions vehicles and high-speed rail.
Additionally, the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works held a hearing on recycling and the circular economy. In the House, the Agriculture Committee held a hearing on the role of voluntary carbon markets for mitigating climate change from the agriculture sector. Finally, several pieces of legislation were introduced in the House and Senate to help fund clean energy projects, including S.2766, H.R.5367, and H.R.5369. See EESI's full environmental legislative trackers for September 13 to 17 and September 20 to 24.
