Your Legacy Could Include Progress on Climate Change

I know how much action on science-based climate solutions means to you, since you are on EESI’s website. 

Have you thought about what your legacy will be? Have you included the Environmental and Energy Study Institute in your will or made EESI a beneficiary of your IRA or 401K? 

Picture it—your legacy could include:

• Providing opportunities for the next generation through EESI’s high-impact paid internship program and our scholarship program for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
   
• Making sure that rural areas have the resources and know-how they need to tap into federal resources that further an equitable clean energy transition. 
   
• Helping Congress make informed decisions about crucial environmental, energy, and climate issues for a better-functioning representative democracy—and keeping the public and journalists informed about these issues, too. 

You may have written a will a while ago; perhaps you have been planning to update it. August is National Make-a-Will Month and is just around the corner—so it’s the perfect time to stop procrastinating. 

Writing or updating your will or reviewing your retirement plan (e.g., 401K, IRA, 403B) beneficiary designations will provide a chance to consider what you want your legacy to be—to show how much solutions to climate change mean to you. 

When you include EESI in your will or name EESI as a beneficiary of your retirement accounts, you can help make sure that the work that EESI has done for the past 40 years continues on for 40 more:

• Congressional staff will be able to rely on EESI for science-based actionable information rather than on special interests. 
   
• Interns will receive invaluable professional development and opportunities to understand environmental policy. 
   
• Rural areas will benefit from assistance to access federal environmental and energy resources.
