The Biogenic Carbon Emissions Panel of the EPA Science Advisory Board continued its deliberations last week. At stake is whether and how EPA will regulate CO2 emissions from stationary bioenergy systems such as biopower plants, ethanol refineries, and pulp and paper mills that use biomass residues for heat and power. The panel reviewed and received public comments on its draft report which assesses the EPA’s proposed framework for accounting for CO2 emissions.
The panel met by teleconference on January 27. The draft report, the minutes of the meeting, presentations by panel members, and written public comments on the draft report may be found on the EPA web site . There you will also find the EPA announcement of the formation of the panel and its charge , the EPA’s proposed "Accounting Framework for Biogenic CO2 Emissions from Stationary Sources," and a synthesis of public comments from diverse stakeholders and public interest groups on the EPA’s proposed framework.
The next teleconference is scheduled for March 20.
