On April 30, Pace Law School dedicated a classroom building to Richard Ottinger, a distinguished former Dean of Pace Law School, the founder of the Pace Energy and Climate Center , and the Chairman Emeritus of EESI's Board. Construction on the 27,000-square-foot building, now known as Richard Ottinger Hall, began during Ottinger's tenure as dean.

Dick Ottinger, one of EESI's co-founders, served as the Chairman of EESI's Board for many years. Ottinger served in the House of Representatives for New York (from 1965-1971 and from 1975-1985), where he was one of the founders of the Environmental and Energy Study Conference, the bipartisan Congressional caucus that formed EESI as an independent nonprofit in the mid 1980s.

Dick Ottinger said that it was a great honor to have the building named for him, and that he wants his legacy to be "helping students become the next environmental leaders." EESI's internship program, which plays a vital part in EESI's mission to train the next generation of environmental leaders, is named after Ottinger.

Pace Law School is consistently ranked among the nation's top three environmental law programs.
