Highlights:
Last week, the FIRE Act (S. 3092) passed the Senate unanimously. The bill would update the federal government’s wildfire policy, including measures on wildfire alerts, relocating structures at risk of fires, and wildfire reporting to Congress. Meanwhile, the Community Disaster Resilience Zones Act of 2022 (S. 3875) passed the Senate. The bill would require the President to maintain a natural disaster risk assessment program of products that inform users on factors like an area’s natural hazard risk, loss exposure, social vulnerability, and more.
