Here is your Congressional Round-Up for September 17th-27th! The Senate introduced nine bills and eight bills were approved by committees. The House introduced nineteen bills and held six committee hearings.

Congress will be out of session from September 30th-October 15th.

Highlights

This month, the House of Representatives introduced legislation pertaining to federal funds for disaster relief, as well one resolution in response to the new IPCC report and another in support of teaching climate change in schools.

The Senate also introduced bills in response to the IPCC report and disaster relief funding, and approved a bill out of committee on energy savings through public-private partnerships.

The PREPARE Act (Preparedness and Risk management for Extreme weather Patternns, Assuring Resilience and Effectiveness) was introduced in the House by Congressmen Matt Cartwright (D-PA) and Daniel Webster (R-FL). If passed, it would support interagency oversight for resilience and risk management priorities and require agencies to incorporate extreme weather in planning activiites.
