Highlights:

This week, the Senate unanimously passed the bipartisan Saline Lake Ecosystems in the Great Basin States Program Act of 2021 (S. 1466). The bill would direct the U.S. Geological Survey to develop a monitoring program for saline lake ecosystems and wildlife in the Great Basin States, which include Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and California.

In addition, the Senate agreed to a House amendment to the Preventing PFAS Runoff at Airports Act (S. 3662), which has passed both chambers. The bill would authorize additional Federal Aviation Administration funding for commercial airports to purchase firefighting testing equipment to limit and prevent perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) runoff.
