Highlights:
The Providing Research and Estimates of Changes in Precipitation (PRECIP) Act (H.R. 1437) passed the Senate and would direct the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to study and plan for updating maximum precipitation estimates. This would facilitate an improved understanding of the extreme weather caused by climate change.
In addition, the Safeguarding America's Future and Environment (SAFE) Act (H.R. 2872) was reported by the Committee on Natural Resources. The bill would establish a working group to develop climate adaptation strategies for fish, wildlife, and plants. For more on climate change adaptation, EESI’s Living with Climate Change briefing series discusses community preparation strategies for four major climate threats.
