From June 21 to 25, the Growing Climate Solutions Act of 2021 (S.1251), passed the Senate. The bipartisan legislation aims to “break down barriers for farmers and foresters interested in participating in carbon markets so they can be rewarded for climate-smart practices.” Additionally, the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources held a hearing to “examine existing programs and future opportunities to ensure access to affordable, reliable, and clean energy for rural and low-income communities.”

Other notable bills:

  • H.R.4182 would declare the global wildlife extinction crisis a national emergency.
  • S.2263 would provide a tax credit for sustainable aviation fuel.
  • S.2259 would establish a Climate Change Resilience Program.
