Highlights:

The bipartisan Disaster Resiliency Planning Act (S.3510) passed the Senate. The bill would require the federal government to incorporate natural disaster resilience into federal property asset management and investment decisions.

Also on the topic of increasing resilience to climate change impacts, the Preventing HEAT Illness and Deaths Act of 2021 (S.2510) was introduced in the Senate and would provide $100 million in financial assistance for community projects that help address extreme heat. For more on building resilience to extreme heat, check out EESI’s recent briefing.
