Highlights:
This week, several new bills focused on studying wildfires and improving wildfire management. The Fire Ready Nation Act of 2022 (H.R. 8449), introduced in the House, would create a program within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to improve wildfire forecasting, detection, modeling and observations. H.R. 8483, which would require studies on insurance coverage for wildfire damage, was also introduced in the House this week. The 2023 appropriations bill for the Department of Transportation and Department of Housing and Urban Development, H.R.8294, passed the House.
