Highlights:

Last week, the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act (H.R.22) passed the House. The bill would prohibit petroleum products from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve from being sold or exported to China.

In addition, H.R.178 was introduced in the House. The bill follows the Public Land Renewable Energy Development Act of 2021 (H.R.3326), which was introduced by Rep. Mike Levin (D-Calif.) in the 117th Congress and proposed provisions for the development of renewable energy infrastructure on public lands.

Finally, House committees received their chair assignments. Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) will chair the House Committee on Agriculture, Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) will chair the House Committee on Natural Resources, and Cathy McMorris Rogers (R-Ore.) will chair the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
