EESI has achieved the Gold Star Seal of Transparency from the world’s largest source of information on nonprofit organizations, GuideStar by Candid! Transparency matters to us.
We are committed to honesty, which is why we wanted to achieve this high standard of transparency. Only 0.5 percent of all organizations on GuideStar by Candid achieve the Gold Seal! For the past 35 years, the EESI name has stood for integrity, insights, and nonpartisan, actionable climate solutions.
Our commitment to transparency is why we’ve updated our program and results information; we explain what we aim to solve, our key strategies, capabilities for doing so, indicators of progress, as well as what we’ve done so far and what’s next on the table. Some of those accomplishments include leading a coalition on the Disaster Recovery Reform Act (DRRA), which became law in 2018.This is an important reform that makes it easier for communities to prepare for disasters, and to rebuild better after they have been struck.
We’ve helped spread strategies for the development and/or improvement of on-bill financing and electrification programs to 12 states! For example, we’ve helped South Carolina rural electric cooperatives obtain a zero-interest federal loan for $13 million to make low- and moderate-income households in struggling rural areas more energy efficient in a way that is equitable.
Now, visitors to our page on Guidestar can tell we’ve hosted 19 hard-hitting briefings so far this year and have offered technical assistance to the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. And, of course, you can see our strategies, goals, and financials on Guidestar and on our website.
By focusing on win-win solutions that help the economy and treat climate change seriously, EESI has considered climate change action a moral imperative since 1988. We value the generosity of our amazing donors, and are working hard to bring forth climate solutions.
