Do you have a donor-advised fund (DAF) or charitable giving account? Here’s how you can use it to drive climate change solutions!

What?

Join EESI for DAF Day, a new giving day to promote giving from donor-advised funds. Along with fellow nonprofits, fundraising platforms, and donor-advised fund providers, EESI is encouraging millions of donors to come together for a day of giving.

Why?

Perhaps you set up a donor-advised fund or giving account, such as a Vanguard Charitable or Fidelity Charitable account, for tax reasons. But you don’t quite know what to do with it.

You’ll feel good when you put it to work for the climate!

You can use your account to help EESI advance work on climate change. Since you have already done the legwork of setting up the account, a great next step is making a grant on the inaugural DAF Day!

DAF Day will facilitate recognition of donors like you and spread awareness about the uses and benefits of these accounts, which are like charitable savings accounts.

By giving a donor-advised fund gift, you can have a real-time impact on:

  • Awareness of harmful fossil fuel subsidies;
  • Opportunities for adaptation and community resilience to climate impacts;
  • Support for implementation of history-making federal climate laws, especially in rural areas; and
  • Considerations of environmental justice.

How and When?

  1. Commit to participating in DAF Day on October 10. Mark your calendar. Consider signing up to commit to giving at dafday.com.

  2. Access your account: Go to Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, or wherever your charitable giving account is housed.

  3. Plan your giving: Make a bold donation. Perhaps 10% of your donor-advised fund balance on 10/10? EESI's EIN (tax ID number) is 52-1268030.

  4. Spread awareness: Challenge your network to celebrate DAF Day with you to further unleash the power of donor-advised funds to advance climate solutions.

This is a great chance to make a difference!

No Donor-Advised Fund? No Problem!

If you don't have a donor-advised fund, you can still advance climate solutions by giving online here through your credit card, PayPal, or ACH. Or you can donate appreciated stock, a tax-smart way to give.
