On Tuesday, February 23, the U.S. Department of Energy's Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Cathy Zoi will be on Capitol Hill to provide an overview of the Obama administration's budget request for energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) programs. Fred Sissine of the Congressional Research Service will join the panel to discuss how these amounts compare to EE/RE funding in previous years and to the budgets for other energy-related programs. The briefing , cohosted by the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and the House Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus, will be held at 2:00 in the Cannon Caucus Room and is open to the public.
The administration’s FY 2011 budget request for the Department of Energy’s EE/RE programs is $2.36 billion, an increase of $113 million (or five percent) compared to FY2010 appropriations and approximately eight percent of the total DOE budget.
