Livecast Troubleshooting

First step: Can you view another video on our YouTube channel?

NO, other videos aren't working either: there is likely a problem with your computer or your portable device. Please follow these trouble-shooting steps.

YES, other videos are working fine: there is likely a problem on our end. Please check our Twitter feed for up-to-date announcements. Checking our Twitter feed is the easiest and quickest way to see if we are having technical difficulties.

You can also try watching the livecast directly on our Youtube channel, at:
www.youtube.com/user/eesionline/live.

If we are unable to resolve the problem, we encourage you to wait for the video to be posted on our YouTube channel, usually within 2 or 3 days of the briefing. If you would like to be alerted when the video is posted, please send us an email.

The stream is very choppy and/or freezes.

Unfortunately, this is likely due to a poor internet connection.

Our briefings take place in Congressional buildings, and sometimes we do not have access to wired internet access. We use a wireless (WiFi or 4G) connection instead, which can be unreliable.

Our online-only briefings often rely on our speakers' home internet connections, which are not as reliable as business connections.

We encourage you to wait for the video to be posted on our YouTube channel, usually within 2 or 3 days of the briefing. If you would like to be alerted when the video is posted, please send us an email.

I can't see the slides, or they're difficult to read.

You can download the slides (if available) here.

We try to integrate the slides into the livestream whenever possible, but sometimes it's not technically possible to do so.

We encourage our speakers to use large fonts that are easy to read, but we have no control over their presentations.

I can't hear anything.

Have you made sure your computer speakers are on?

Are you sure they aren't muted? Windows users can check by clicking on the speaker icon at the bottom right of their screens.

We may be having technical difficulties. Please check our Twitter feed for up-to-date announcements.

Audio quality is poor.

Our videographer usually pipes in the audio directly from the room's microphones, but sometimes that isn't possible. When it isn't, he/she must use the camera's built-in microphone, which is more susceptible to interference and distortion.

Our online-only briefings often rely on our speakers' home internet connections and audio equipment, which are not usually professional grade.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
